Service Expecations in Charlotte, NC

What are your expectations of SERVICE in the South? Is service universal?

Now that holiday shopping and sales are wrapping up, how as the service you received in stores this year? Could you even find someone to ring up your merchandise? Did they know where to find something if you asked for help? And restaurants...if the place was crowded, were you still given attention? If so, were you overwhelmed with ingratiating attention, or not given enough? Did your waiters get too personal? Were you treated with respect? What should we expect from the service sector in 2009 as our world changes so dramatically?

I'm in the service sector also, as a Realtor, beginning my 16th year. What are your expectations for service from us? If using a buyer's agent, do you expect immediate response? Lots of e-mails? To be driven around to see as many houses as you like? Do you expect loyalty? Are you willing to be loyal to your agent in return? If selling, how much service do you expect is reasonable or even above and beyond the "norm" for you? Most agents will put your listings on the Internet-lots of sites- in the MLS, have signs, info boxes, open houses-the usual. How would you feel if your agent cleaned, did yard work, checked the house regularly, turned on & off lights, and contacted you at least once a week? Is that expected service, or above average service? Would you require such attention from your listing agent?

With the Internet playing such a significant role in the 21st century, are you communicating in person over the phone? If yes, do you consider that contact expected, essential, extraneous, or bothersome? Where are we heading with interpersonal relationships in our hi-tech world? Will service meet expectations? Will there be any service at all?

SERVICE expectations in the Charlotte Metropolitan Area?? Let's discuss it!

Living with less and still living LARGE!

Whether you're an empty nester or part of an active family, I'm sure you may think at times "do I really need all this space?" Everything we read about is living greener and more efficiently. But most of us don't want to give up nice things we come to enjoy- tons of space, flat screen tv's, gourmet kitchens, the pool and lawn...not to mention the boxes of items we've accumulated through the years from our children or items from grandma's attic.

If you can fathom doing without all that "stuff" you can downsize and I bet you won't miss any of it. You can still live large in a smaller place.

Take for example, someone downsizing from a 3500-6000 sf home. A good option might be new home community Charndon Village, an enclave of 33 English inspired, single family carriage homes located between SouthPark and Matthews. Homes begin in the $420's and have anywhere from 2200-3200 square feet.

The open, yet efficient floor plans offer great space for living and entertaining. How many times in the past year have you actually used your formal living and dining rooms? I think the one thing I would never want to give up is a fabulous kitchen with custon cabinets and appliances. You certainly don't have to give it up at Charndon Village. You can also have a great media room or study-install a mini bar or surround sound. There's still room for 3 or 4 bedrooms with luxury bathrooms and walk in closets. And you do get outdoor space- customize your patio into a little oasis. The beautifully landscaped yard and grounds will be taken care of by the HOA- not you.

How about those "greener" items... less space means less to heat and cool. Tankless water heaters reduce your energy costs and save the space a water heater would take up in your garage. Today's new construction is more efficient than ever.

And as for all the "stuff', now's a great time to donate it to charity for a tax write off or start a 2nd business on E-Bay. I bet some of Grandma's china might be worth more than you think.

Call me and let's discuss the right downsizing option for you!
